Points for Prayer

Points for prayer from Rory's most recent newsletter:

• We have well advanced plans for a development of out maternity service. This is not just for a new building, but also once we have adequate facilities to cope with the demand, we are planning for an even more proactive engagement with the community. We plan to encourage more mothers to attend antenatal care (at least once) and attend hospital sooner rather than waiting until labour has been hugely obstructed prior to attending as is sadly too often the case at present. Dr Mercy (Ugandan Obstetrician) is heading these developments in conjunction with funding through the ISIS foundation.

• Staff turnover in recent years has been slowed with a rise in salaries and a number of hospital wide community events. Developing a team with fresh vision and shared commitment to the goals of the hospital and Kingdom of God are a task for the coming year.

• We still have several key middle management positions under filled. Do pray for us to locate/train up the right people. Happy Christmas in the meantime and thanks for all the ongoing support and encouragement.

Ongoing points for prayer:

Financial situation: a recent donation has greatly helped the situation for the present time . The problem is Kiwoko can't match the pay scales offered in the government hospitals. In saying this, many of the latter hospitals cannot match the care given by Kiwoko! Many staff stay because they are committed Christians, even though they would be paid better elsewhere, but we should continue to try and decrease the salary differentials. You we see above that Kiwoko is continuing to develop its team vision - staff are very much part of the 'Kiwoko Family'.

Pray for the staff of the hospital and community.

For Jim McAnlis as he works on his PhD in the effective use of aid (my synopsis - Jim can tell you more!), while at the same time helping FOKH as treasurer and working along with CMS and Fields of Light.

Pray for the Doctors and all medical staff of the hospital. That the work of the hospital will continue to the benefit of the community at large.

Pray for Ken and Judith Finch and the hospital board.

Give thanks for all our donors, that the work of the hospital is possible.

Pray for the Mission team, for Shadrack as he now studies for ministry. That the spiritual side of the hospital will continue to bring hope and see lives changed.

Pray for Rory.

Pray for Brian and Hazel Dorman in their work for Africare and obtaining equipment for Kiwoko and other Hospitals/clinics.

Pray for the new training centre. For the Nurse Training School and the Tutors.

For the HIV/AIDs work in the community, that resources will be available to continue with this work.

Pray for Alan Vincent as he seeks to develop ties with the Ulster and Ards Hospitals (SE Health & Social Care Trust) in N. Ireland with Kiwoko
